Maquet to replace Forbes as Ingram’s EMEA boss Monday, 29 June 2009
Distribution giant Ingram Micro has appointed Alain Maquet as president of its EMEA operation effective July 1st 2009. Maquet is replacing current EMEA president Jay Forbes who is resigning from the company at the end of June and returning to his native Canada. Maquet, currently president of Ingram Micro Latin America, has vast experience of the European market. In his new EMEA role, Maquet will continue to report to Alain Monie, president and COO at Ingram Micro. Click here for more

Dell opens Riyadh distribution centre Monday, 29 June 2009
Hardware giant Dell has opened a local distribution centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dell claims that the new facility forms part of its long-term commitment to supporting and providing services to customers in the Kingdom. Dell has made a US$750,000 in the new facility and believes that it will improve the delivery of spare parts to customers in Saudi Arabia. Click here for more  
Elko lands Lenovo rights in the Ukraine Friday, 12 June 2009
Latvia-based distribution giant Elko has announced a partnership with Lenovo in the Ukraine. Under the terms of the deal, Elko has become an official in-country distributor of Lenovo notebooks. Elko reckons that the deal will allow it to offer a wider range of products to channel customers in the Ukraine at more competitive prices. Click here for more  
Russian authority launches case against A-brand vendors Friday, 12 June 2009
Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has launched a case against notebook vendors Acer, Asustek, Toshiba, HP, Samsung and Dell. FAS Russia claims that the vendors violated competition law by not giving consumers enough opportunity to use an operating system apart from Microsoft. Click here for more
